This family of HDMI-over-CAT5 expanders and extenders from Databay offers you endless possibilities for many digital signage, public information display and retail display applications. The products are used where high quality HDMI digital display and audio needs to sent to many remote PDP and LCD displays and digital projectors over low-cost CAT5/5e/6 FTP, STP or UTP cable. Only a single CATx cable is used for each connection. Many other HDMI distribution systems need 2 CATx cables for each connection and are therefore more limited and costly to implement.

The HDMI-E104C and HDMI-E108C 4 and 8-port HDMI Expanders are used with HDMI-E102TR, HDMI-HR, HDMI-over-CAT5 extender and expander system is perfect for larger home cinema and entertainment systems, digital signage, public information display, and any large scale display applications where crystal-clear, high definition digital video needs to be shown without distance limitations and with reduced installation costs.

A distance of up to 80m. between each HDMI-over-CAT5 unit is achievable depending on display resolution and FTP cable type and quality. While UTP (unshielded twisted pair) can be used, FTP (foil twisted pair) or STP (screened twisted pair) cable is recommended for greater distance and reduced interference. It is essential to use cable with a low skew-rate, typically 25ns/100m. or less if maximum distances are to be acheived. All terminations to the RJ-45 connectors on the CATx cables must be made to the EIA-568B standard.
All HDMI-over-CAT5 units are supplied with a 3-pin UK plug-top power supply. A European 2-pin version of each is available at no extra cost.
