Good morning Guest

Pixels sync and control scripts for Brightsign media players.

Our engineers write program scripts for customers’ special applications or when they prefer not to use BrightSign’s free-to-download BrightAuthor PC software. Our SyncKit synchronisation and control scripts for BrightSign players are a far simpler alternative to using BrightAuthor software to create presentations. In addition to this we believe the sync scripts are more reliable as they allow for extra error correction between each media clip than BrightAuthor does. Pixels' scripts run on all models of BrightSign media players.

BrightAuthor is really good (although complex) for managing live data, remotely updated networked solutions, web data feeds and HTML5, but can bring added complexity not necessary for synchronisation, player control and user interactivity.

All 20 BrightSign players in the CityScape installation in Abu Dhabi are synchronised and controlled by program scripts written by Pixels.

Pixels sync and control scripts contain several easily editable configuration items. They are very simple to set up and are fully supported by Pixels. These settings are modified using a simple text editor and so can be done on any PC, Mac or tablet. No additional or special software is required. The configuration items cover things like the names of the media to be played, the display resolution and audio output option and audio level - nothing more complex than that. You do not need to understand how the script works.

Reasons why using Pixels scripts is easier than using BrightAuthor:

  1. No software installation required. Use the text editor already resident on your computer.
  2. No steep learning curve required to create a BrightAuthor presentation.
  3. Scripts can be quickly configured or changed on a Mac, PC or tablet.
  4. The media and script stored on the SD card is not obfuscated as with BrightAuthor, so each can be individually updated or shared between presentations. Meaning, for a 'new' presentation, all you need to do is change the names of the media files, not create, author and publish a whole new BrightAuthor presentation.
  5. You don't have to understand how synchronisation works or learn how to implement synchronisation in BrightAuthor.
  6. BrightAuthor is constantly being updated which may also require you to flash new firmware onto all associated BrightSign players.  Old projects are often not backwardly compatible with the latest version of BrightAuthor which can mean you need to re-author your project.
